The Computer Systems Technology program provides students with the opportunity to enter the world of computer technology and gain practical experience in assembling computer systems, installing operating systems, troubleshooting computers and peripherals, and using system tools and diagnostic software. Students develop skills in computer networking and resource sharing. In addition, students explore the relationship between internal and external computer components. Hands-on laboratory exercises, computer-aided instruction, and various reference materials are used to supplement classroom instruction. This class is taught in conjunction with the Networking class and may be taken for one or two credit hours. This class is a Dual Enrollment course through Virginia Highlands Community College. Computer Systems is a two year program that is available to 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students.
